Ireland

This one would have been Winter at the Castle and Tipsy Damson Civet de Cerf but then I went to Ireland to lay the memory of my father to rest, or rather, to lay to rest what could have been memories.

I don’t have much to say, this time. It is a beautiful country, I’ve circled the North, beautiful, and I’ve been to the sea, epic drive along the coast, the sea in February (which is moreover the sea in November, or January, the best sea there is and ever will be, quite unlike an August sea, or September sea), enough to set everything right, also the right amount of wind to blow the cobwebs away, wind and rain and the sun pouring through the cracks in the sky.

Besides that, the obvious, pubs, food (we ate remarkably well, this coming from a seasoned Francophile, hear hear), whiskey, ruins, fairies, heather and gorse, more whiskey, and friends.

I should probably add some Guinness infused cake here, or French camembert baked with drunken whiskey toffee and brown bread, but I don’t feel like cooking/baking, not this February. Hence just random outtakes from my camera roll.

This is how I saw Ireland:

  1. I have been in love with Ireland for many decades. And Scotland. Such magical countries! So rich in history. Ireland is alive with atmosphere and mystery. I get goosebumps just looking at these beautiful photos. 💚

  2. You really captured the rugged beauty that is Ireland. All your photos are lovely, but I l especially like the image with the rear view mirror. It looks like the castle is perched on an impossible rock formation until you realize it’s the frame of the mirror! One of your ocean photos looks like Galway, I took a similar one in June. The Wild Atlantic Way certainly deserves its name; It’s very romantic sometimes, and mystical…and wild!

Indeed, the food scene is really taking off all over Ireland. Hope you got to eat as many oysters as the Walrus or the Carpenter!
