#13 Les Poissonchats Wondrous Advent Calendar – Eating Fondue with Friends

You don’t necessarily eat it just around Christmas, in fact, it’s a staple all around winter, Eating Fondue with Friends. It’s too simple and stinky to be modern and in a hygienist world everybody’s fork in the same pot seems quite the desecration, in short, so nostalgic! There’s a lot of rules around losing one’s piece of bread in the cheese, ranging from drinking brandy to kissing to roll in the snow naked, so 80ies, and whenever we eat fondue I can’t help it but that WHAM! mood just makes me vibe, red cable knit and moonboots, are you feeling it?

I can’t give you any decent recipe for making fondue, because it’s just about the cheese, and that again is depending on where you live. We bring home ours whenever we visit family in Switzerland, and Antoine, my cheese man, made me discover a very tasty comté fondue here in France. Also needs a good kirsch brandy to go along. And good bread from a good baker. Oh and don’t forget pickles galore. Dessert, if you’re a traditionalist, will be orange salad. ’Tis the season!

*This is Les Poissonchats Wondrous Advent Calendar! Advent calendars are a big tradition where I come from: every day until Christmas Day you prepare a small gift for a loved one, fourandtwenty little surprises. Advent calendars come in beautifully old fashioned prints on cardboard, extra glitter and glory, and each day there’s a little perforated window waiting for you be opened. Others are more elaborate, pretty baskets filled with twenty four numbered parcels, red velvet ribbons and sprigs of fir. The one I’m making for you this season is a different one altogether, it comes in digital form. Unless specially marked, all content is hand-stitched by myself, lovingly compiled and written for your amusement.
